St. Croix River Canoe Trips

Rising from a chain of wilderness lakes, the St. Croix river winds through the eastern Maine forest along the Canadian border featuring a perfect blend of Maine scenery, moderate whitewater, wilderness campsites, and excellent fishing.

The rapids on the St. Croix are lively yet not intimidating- excellent for introducing novices to the art of whitewater canoeing. Experienced canoeists will appreciate the river's relaxed, playful nature and most importantly, a great opportunity to share a river with family and friends.

Runnable throughout the season, the St. Croix is Maine's best, if not only, extended canoe trip with whitewater throughout the summer and into the fall.

The St. Croix provides an excellent chance for participants to learn and practice basic whitewater canoeing techniques or for more advanced participants to practice solo canoeing or learn the art of poling a canoe.

The river sports excellent smallmouth bass fishing; a great element of the trip, especially for young anglers.

Fall foliage trips on the St. Croix are a rare treat for paddlers looking for a beautiful, relaxed whitewater trip to end the canoeing season.

The St. Croix has received recognition from Maine and Canada for it's pristine beauty and the vast majority of the river has been preserved for traditional use through land acquisition, easments, and zoning on both sides of the border.

The St. Croix Getaway is 4-day canoe trip starting just below Spednik Lake and ending at Grand Falls. The trip is run at an easy pace allowing plenty of time to enjoy the many facets of the St. Croix- fishing, side-hikes, photography, relaxing at camp, and evening campfires.

Morning and evening meals are prepared by your guide(s) over open fires. Evening meals include appetizers, entrees, wine, and dessert. Lunches are buffet style with breads, cheeses, vegetables, cold cuts, and a variety of snacks.

Canoeing instruction is a daily part of the trip and a specialty of our guides. Depending on your interests, your guide will help develop your skills or hone your technique in tandem canoeing, solo canoeing, poling a canoe, reading whitewater, river rescue, and wilderness camping.

The St. Croix River and Lakes is a 6-day canoe trip and includes two days canoeing the rivers pristine headwater lakes known for island campsites and beautiful sunsets.
